Match taleFifteen. That is how many places Jaume Munar climbed this week, from 64 to 49, to put a Tokyo qualifier inside the top 50. Valentin Vacherot rose four places to a career-high No. 14, and Jiri Lehecka and Francisco Cerundolo both crossed into the top 20, so the band between 14 and 50 looks different from the one it replaced.
Ranking tale44-3. That is Jannik Sinner's 2026 season, and it is now over. The world No. 1 said on Tuesday that a knee injury needs treatment, which takes him out of everything left this year, the ATP Finals in Turin included, where he has won the last two titles.
Withdrawal taleSeven. That is how many China Open titles Novak Djokovic now holds, after Alex de Minaur retired a game into the second set of the final, a set down. Djokovic had taken the first set in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-3), and de Minaur had just held for 1-0 in the second when he stopped: the score reads 7-6 0-1 RET. It is Djokovic's first Beijing title since 2015, and he won it at 39, seeded 6 and ranked 11.

He was one of two Frenchmen with a tour-level title this week: Quentin Halys won Kitzbuhel and rose 31 places to No. 52.
