ATP rankings: Basilashvili, Griekspoor and Struff climb

Thirty-three. That is how many places Nikoloz Basilashvili climbed in the new ATP rankings, from No. 128 to No. 95, a 34-year-old who began the week in qualifying and ends it back inside the top 100. Tallon Griekspoor and Jan Lennard Struff both moved into the top 50 on the same indoor swing.

Basilashvili started the week outside the top 100 and had to win two qualifying rounds at Almaty just to reach the main draw. From there he beat Marin Cilic, Adrian Mannarino and Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach the final, and that run was worth 33 places. At 34 he is not at a career best: his highest ranking is No. 16, reached in 2019. But he is the only Georgian in the top 100, a country that had no one there a week ago.

Brussels moved the middle of the list. Griekspoor went from 60 to 50, landing on exactly No. 50, and Struff, at 36, went from 58 to 47, so both enter the top 50 together. Francisco Cerundolo rose two places to No. 19, which puts Argentina back in the top 20 after a week with no one there. Arthur Fils also gained two places, from 10 to 8, a new career best; his previous high was No. 9. The falls were just as sharp: Joao Fonseca, 20, dropped from 28 to 40, and Denis Shapovalov slid out of the top 50, from 47 to 52. France lost two men from the top 100, going from 13 to 11.

At the top, nothing moved. Jannik Sinner stays at No. 1 without having played this week, and his lead over Alexander Zverev at No. 2 stands at 700 points. The change came just inside the top 10, where Fils moved past Alex De Minaur, who fell from 8 to 10. Jiri Lehecka also dropped out of the top 20, from 20 to 21.
