His 2 career titles came in successive Januaries, Adelaide in 2024 and Brisbane in 2025, either side of a back injury that forced him out of a Madrid semi-final and swallowed months of his season. He came back sharper: a US Open quarter-final and the Czech No. 1 spot in 2025, then a run to his first Masters 1000 final in Miami in 2026 without losing serve once, before Jannik Sinner stopped him.
