ATP rankings: Jodar and Tien climb to the edge of the top 10, at 19 and 20

Eleven. That is where Rafael Jodar stands on the ATP rankings after his Montreal semi-final, up from 15 and the best ranking of his career. He is 19, the youngest man in the top 20, and Learner Tien, 20, sits one place behind him at 12 after losing his own semi-final, also a career best, up from 19.

Neither of them won the tournament, and neither had held his old ranking long. Jodar had been at 15 for a single week; Tien passed the 15 he first reached in July. They are two of the three men under 21 in the top 20, with Jakub Mensik, also 20, the third at 16. Brandon Nakashima, 25, went a round further than either of them, into the final, and moved from 31 to 22, above the 29 he first reached in May 2025.

The biggest climb inside the top 100 belonged to Daniel Merida Aguilar, 23 places from 63 to 40, past the 59 he had reached three weeks earlier. The 21-year-old Spaniard beat Ugo Humbert, Alex Michelsen and Tallon Griekspoor in Montreal before Tien stopped him in the quarter-final. Thiago Agustin Tirante, who beat Taylor Fritz on his way to the last 16, climbed from 65 to 50 for a best of his own; Griekspoor beat Alexander Zverev and rose from 69 to 56; and Botic Van De Zandschulp beat Daniil Medvedev and rose from 70 to 59. Luciano Darderi moved into the top 20, from 22 to 20, taking Italy's count there to four, up from three. On the way down, Frances Tiafoe left the top 20, from 20 to 23, Sebastian Korda fell from 50 to 64, and Holger Rune dropped out of the top 100, from 99 to 102.

Jannik Sinner stayed at No. 1 without playing a match, and leads Carlos Alcaraz by 5,290 points. Ben Shelton's Montreal title took him from 10 to 6, still short of the No. 5 he reached in November 2025, and behind him Daniil Medvedev slipped from 6 to 7, Alex De Minaur from 7 to 8 and Flavio Cobolli from 8 to 10.
