WTA rankings: Noskova's Wimbledon title puts two Czechs in the top 10

Seven. That is where Linda Noskova sits in the WTA rankings this week, five places higher than a week ago, and the reason is a Wimbledon title. She beat Karolina Muchova in the final, and the two of them now sit side by side in the top 10, where last week there was one Czech.

Noskova is 21 and she had never been ranked higher than 12th before this week, a mark she first reached in January. The 1,760 points a Wimbledon title carries were the largest haul of anyone's week and took her five places past it. Muchova, the player she beat in the final, set a best of her own: sixth, two places better than the eighth she had held since September 2023, which leaves the two Czechs sitting next to each other.

Further down, the fortnight rewarded the players who took their chances early. Ashlyn Krueger came through qualifying and reached the fourth round, a climb of 36 places to 66 that carried her into the top 100. Daria Snigur beat Elina Svitolina in the first round and rose from 77 to 56. Tatjana Maria, at 38 the oldest woman among the week's climbers, went from 96 to 76. Two more moved up from the tier below: Mayar Sherif won the Contrexeville Challenger and reached 97, and Paula Badosa took the Bastad Challenger and went from 141 to 115. The fall of the week was Laura Siegemund's, out in the first round and down from 40 to 87, which takes her out of the top 50.

At the top, Aryna Sabalenka holds No. 1 despite losing in the fourth round to Naomi Osaka, with Elena Rybakina still second and neither of them moving. Everything under them shifted. Iga Swiatek fell from third to eighth, the steepest slide in the top 10, while Coco Gauff climbed three places to fourth. Nine of the ten names were in the top 10 last week too, in a noticeably different order.
