ATP rankings: Fils into the top 10 at 22, without playing a match

Nine. That is where Arthur Fils now stands, up two places from eleventh and into the top 10 at 22, a career best. He did not play this week; the list moved around him, with Taylor Fritz dropping out of the top 10 as Fils came in.

Arthur Fils moves from eleventh to ninth in the ATP rankings and into the top 10, his best ranking so far. He did it without a match counting for him this week; the rise came from the players above him moving the other way. Taylor Fritz is the one who gave up the place, falling from tenth to twelfth and out of the top 10. Alex De Minaur slips a place too, from ninth to tenth, and keeps his seat on the edge of the group.

Further down, the week was busier. Alexander Bublik climbs from 21st to 20th and into the top 20, while Casper Ruud drops four places, from 17th to 21st, and out of it. The biggest climb inside the top 100 belongs to Kyrian Jacquet, up 21 places from 107th to 86th, a career best after reaching the semi-final in Hangzhou. Roman Safiullin also got to the Hangzhou semi-final and rises 18 places, from 102nd to 84th, back inside the top 100. Titouan Droguet is up 12, from 84th to 72nd and another career best, after winning the Challenger title in St. Tropez. Hubert Hurkacz gains five places, from 46th to 41st, after reaching the Chengdu final. Fils is also the story for France: the country has one man in the top 10 this week, where a week ago it had none.

At the top nothing changed. Jannik Sinner stays first without playing, level with his own career best at number one, where he has spent 72 weeks. Alexander Zverev is still second, and the gap between them is 1,370 points. Behind them the only real rearrangement is at the bottom of the top 10: Fils in at ninth, De Minaur down to tenth, Fritz out.
