WTA rankings: Chwalinska and Kartal make the week's big moves

Eleven. That is where Maja Chwalinska now stands in the WTA rankings, up eleven places from 22 and one short of the top 10. The other big mover is Sonay Kartal, who climbs 121 places from 170 to 49, the largest single climb in the WTA rankings this week.

Maja Chwalinska is 25, started the week at 22 and finishes it at 11, a career high that passes her old best of 21. Her run at Wuhan earned the points, and it leaves her one place off the top 10. She also gives Poland a second woman in the top 20, alongside Iga Swiatek at No. 9.

Sonay Kartal, 24, was the other Wuhan finalist and her move is the bigger one: 121 places, from 170 to 49. It is just short of her career-best 44, and it puts her into the top 50 alongside Magdalena Frech, who rises from 56 to 47. Jelena Ostapenko goes from 34 to 24 and into the top 25, Ashlyn Krueger moves from 68 to 55 and Yulia Putintseva from 79 to 66. Francesca Jones (104 to 99) and Fiona Ferro (105 to 100) both step into the top 100, and Jones is one of three British women there, up from one. The week's biggest fall belongs to Tereza Valentova, 19, who drops 26 places from 62 to 88.

At the top nothing moves. Elena Rybakina stays at No. 1 without playing, 1,646 points clear of Aryna Sabalenka at No. 2, and the top 10 is unchanged in order.
