Medvedev holds every service game against Rublev to win Hangzhou for a third title this year

Eleven. Daniil Medvedev served 11 games in the Hangzhou final and held every one of them, saving both break points Andrey Rublev earned. The top seed won 7-5, 6-4 for his third title of 2026.

The serve was the match. Medvedev hit 23 aces to Rublev's four and won 85 percent of his first-serve points (40 of 47); he needed his second serve only 20 times, winning 8 of those points against Rublev's 12 of 25. Rublev, the second seed, held nine of his 11 service games and saved five of the seven break points Medvedev earned.

Both sets turned on a single break. In the first, Medvedev broke in the 11th game to lead 6-5 and served it out for 7-5. In the second he broke in the opening game, 1-0, and never gave it back, closing it 6-4 on his only match point. Over the 130 points of the match he won 69 to Rublev's 61, 53 percent, a margin of eight points that the scoreboard turned into two sets.

It is Medvedev's 25th tour title and the third of a 2026 season that also brought Brisbane and Dubai; before that his last was Almaty in 2025. He is 30, ranked sixth, with a 41-16 record this year and the 2021 US Open as his one Grand Slam. His route here ran through Valentin Royer, Coleman Wong and Roman Safiullin, ranked 105, 100 and 84, and he dropped one set in four matches here, to Wong in a tiebreak. Against Rublev he now leads the head-to-head 9-2 across 11 meetings, and Rublev has not beaten him since the 2022 Tour Finals. For Rublev, 28 and ranked 24, it is a defeat in a season that had already given him Bastad, one of 19 tour titles.
