ATP rankings: Jodar into the top 20 at 19

Nine. That is how many places Rafael Jodar gained in the ATP rankings this week, from No. 24 to a career-best No. 15, after a run to the final in Washington. The 19-year-old Spaniard moves into the top 20.

Rafael Jodar reached the final in Washington, a run that ended in a defeat to Taylor Fritz. The run lifts the 19-year-old Spaniard nine places, from No. 24 to No. 15, his best ranking. His previous high was No. 23, first reached in June 2026.

Arthur Gea, 21, won Los Cabos, beating Denis Shapovalov in the final, and climbed 45 places to a career-best No. 82. Shapovalov, the runner-up, still rose 25 places into the top 50, to No. 43. Taylor Fritz's title in Washington lifted him one place, to No. 9. Terence Atmane rose to No. 46, Sebastian Baez to No. 48 and Sebastian Korda to No. 50, four players entering the top 50 the same week. Coleman Wong, beaten by Gea in the semi-final, reached a career high of his own, at No. 92, aged 22. France's count in the top 100 rose to 12, from 11, and Spain now has two players in the top 20, with Jodar joining Carlos Alcaraz. Holger Rune, without a result this week, fell to No. 99, down from No. 82.

At the top of the list, Jannik Sinner stayed at No. 1, idle this week, with his lead over Alcaraz at No. 2 now at 5,290 points. Alcaraz moved up one place as Alexander Zverev slipped to No. 3; Daniil Medvedev rose to No. 6 as Alex De Minaur dropped to No. 7. Flavio Cobolli climbed to a career-best No. 8, and Fritz's run took him to No. 9, above Ben Shelton, who fell two places to No. 10.
