Ignacio Buse wins Winston-Salem, and both his career titles belong to 2026

Two. That is how many tour titles Ignacio Buse has won, and both of them came in 2026. The third seed beat Arthur Fery 6-3 6-2 in the Winston-Salem final for a second title of the season, adding to the one he won in Hamburg for his entire career haul in a single year.

Buse's numbers in the final left little doubt: he won 70 percent of his first-serve points, 26 of 37, to Fery's 46 percent, 13 of 28, and closed with 61 percent of all points played, 57 of 93. He won 69 percent of his own service points to Fery's 49 percent, converted 4 of his 7 break points, and was broken only the once himself, on the sole break point Fery created all match.

The first set turned late: Buse broke for a 5-3 lead and served it out 6-3. He carried the break straight into the second, breaking immediately for 1-0 and again for 3-0; Fery's only break of the match pulled it back to 3-1, but Buse broke a third time for 5-2 and served out the title, needing four match points to finish it off.

The win is Buse's second title of the season and the second of his career, after Hamburg earlier this year, so his entire tour-level title count now sits inside one season. Seeded third in Winston-Salem, the 22-year-old Peruvian, ranked 36, beat three seeded players across the week, the 16th seed Daniel Altmaier, the 8th seed Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the quarter-finals and the 4th seed Fery in the final, needing three sets in three of his earlier matches to get there. Fery, ranked 37, was contesting his first tour-level final; his run included a three-set comeback from a set down against Aleksandar Kovacevic in the quarter-finals and a semi-final won when James Duckworth retired at 6-4 1-2.
