The Prague-born counterpuncher overpowers nobody; she wins with court coverage, a dependable two-handed backhand and the patience to keep asking questions until the error comes. Her breakthrough arrived at Wimbledon in 2022, where she beat Caroline Garcia for a first Grand Slam quarter-final before Ons Jabeur stopped her. Weeks later she lifted her first tour trophy at home in Prague.
The best of her career came in 2026. An April clay title in Bogota, then a first grass trophy at Nottingham in June, won in three sets over Emma Navarro, carried her to a career-high No. 22 weeks before her 28th birthday. For a baseline retriever, grass was supposed to be the wrong surface. Instead it has staged her best work, from that London quarter-final to the Nottingham title, proof that legs and a stubborn mind travel to every court.
Twelve. That is the tiebreak score that sent Karolína Muchová into her first Wimbledon final, saving a match point along the way and beating Coco Gauff 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(10).
