Emma Navarro

Emma Navarro took the college route and lost almost no time for it. The 2021 NCAA singles champion for the University of Virginia turned professional that summer and within three seasons stood at a career-high No. 8, reached in September 2024. Her game is built on legs and refusal: clean, flat groundstrokes, a backhand she trusts down the line, and a poker face that gives opponents nothing. She grew up in Charleston, where her father's investment firm now owns the city's WTA tournament.

The summer of 2024 made her name. She beat Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-3 in the Wimbledon fourth round, then took the same scalp at the US Open on the way to a first Grand Slam semi-final, where Aryna Sabalenka stopped her. Her 3 career titles run from Hobart in 2024 to Strasbourg in 2026, the last won weeks after a three-month health layoff and followed by a first grass-court final at Nottingham.
