Iva Jovic
Iva Jovic was sixteen when she beat Magda Linette at the 2024 US Open, a kid from Torrance, California winning at her home slam. Born in December 2007 to a Serbian father and a Croatian mother, she had already collected junior doubles titles at the 2024 Australian Open and Wimbledon and reached No. 2 in the junior rankings. The next September in Guadalajara she saved a match point in the quarterfinals, beat Emiliana Arango 6-4, 6-1 in the final for her first tour title, and walked into the top 40 at seventeen.
The 2026 Australian Open turned promise into proof. Jovic beat world No. 8 Jasmine Paolini for her first top-10 win, then dismissed Yulia Putintseva in 53 minutes for the loss of one game, the youngest American woman in a Melbourne quarterfinal since Venus Williams in 1998. By March she stood at a career-high No. 16, still eighteen, and that summer she reached the second week at Wimbledon. In a crowded American generation she is the one arriving earliest.
