Anastasia Potapova
Anastasia Potapova has been marked for the top since she was fifteen, when she won the 2016 Wimbledon girls' title and finished that summer as the world's No. 1 junior. The senior version is an aggressive baseliner who takes the ball early and swings flat through both wings, brilliant on her day and streaky between them. She reached a career-high No. 21 in June 2023 and has collected 3 career titles, in Istanbul, Linz and Cluj-Napoca.
Then came the boldest move of her career. In December 2025 she switched her sporting nationality from Russia to Austria and became the country's top-ranked woman overnight. The new flag brought new life. In Madrid in 2026 she became the first lucky loser ever to reach a WTA 1000 semifinal, and weeks later at Roland Garros she ended Coco Gauff's title defence in the third round, 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-4. The run carried her back inside the top 30, and the Austrian second act already looks livelier than the Russian first.
