Dutch tennis, a short history
The men's high point is Richard Krajicek, the 1996 Wimbledon champion and the only Dutch man to win a Grand Slam singles title. He reached four major semi-finals, two of them at Wimbledon, and won 17 tour titles. Before him, Tom Okker set the standard with 37 titles and a US Open final in 1968. Martin Verkerk ran to the 2003 Roland Garros final, and Sjeng Schalken reached the 2002 US Open semi-finals.
The women's leading name is Betty Stove, a Wimbledon finalist in 1977 with 8 tour titles. Kiki Bertens climbed to world No. 4, the highest a Dutch woman has reached, won 10 titles and made the 2016 Roland Garros semi-finals. Marijke Jansen reached the Roland Garros semi-finals back in 1971.
