Polish tennis, a short history
On the men's side the heritage is built on consistency rather than majors. Wojtek Fibak won 15 tour titles in the 1970s and 1980s, and Hubert Hurkacz has added 9, reaching a Wimbledon semi-final in 2021 and climbing to a career-high world No. 6 in August 2024, the highest a Polish man has ranked in the Open era. No Polish man has yet reached a Grand Slam final.
The women carry the Slam silverware. Iga Swiatek owns 6 majors, four at Roland Garros plus the 2022 US Open and 2025 Wimbledon, and has spent 125 weeks at world No. 1, seventh-most in WTA history. Agnieszka Radwanska reached the 2012 Wimbledon final across 20 titles, Maja Chwalinska made the 2026 Roland Garros final, and Magda Linette reached the 2023 Australian Open semis.
Titles and records run from 1968, the start of the Open era.
