Paraguayan tennis, a short history
1 Grand Slam final remains the high-water mark for Paraguayan men, reached by Victor Pecci at Roland Garros in 1979, where he beat Jimmy Connors in the semifinal before losing to Bjorn Borg. Pecci went back to the Paris semifinals in 1981 and climbed to a career-high world No. 9. His 10 tour-level titles are the most by any Paraguayan, and he is still the country's defining player.
Paraguay's heritage on the women's side is yet to be written at this level. No Paraguayan woman appears in our Grand Slam or tour-title records, so the milestones here remain ahead rather than behind.
Titles and records run from 1968, the start of the Open era.
