British tennis, a short history

3 Grand Slam titles define the men's story, all won by Andy Murray across 46 tour titles: Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016, and the US Open in 2012. Murray also took two Olympic singles golds, at London 2012 and Rio 2016, the only player to win two, and ended Britain's long Davis Cup wait in 2015, their first title since 1936. Before him, Greg Rusedski reached the 1997 US Open final and Tim Henman made six major semi-finals. Jack Draper carries the line on, a US Open semi-finalist in 2024, while Cameron Norrie reached the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2022.

Virginia Wade remains the standard, with 60 tour titles and majors at the 1968 US Open, the 1971 Australian Open and Wimbledon in 1977, the only British woman to win three different Grand Slams. Ann Jones won Wimbledon in 1969 and Sue Barker took Roland Garros in 1976. Emma Raducanu's 2021 US Open title made her Britain's first woman to win a major since Wade in 1977.

Titles and records run from 1968, the start of the Open era.
