Cypriot tennis, a short history

Cypriot tennis is built almost entirely on one career. Marcos Baghdatis reached the Australian Open final in 2006 and made the semifinals at both that event and Wimbledon the same year. He won 4 tour titles and climbed to a career high of world No. 8 in August 2006, still the high-water mark for the country.

The women's side has yet to add a Grand Slam champion or finalist to the record. No Cypriot woman in the archive has reached a major final, so the heritage here stays short and waits on the next generation.

Titles and records run from 1968, the start of the Open era.
