Canadian tennis, a short history
On the men's side the breakthrough came in 2016, when Milos Raonic reached the Wimbledon final and made the Australian Open semis the same year. Raonic owns 8 tour titles; Felix Auger Aliassime leads all Canadians with 10 and twice reached the US Open semis, in 2021 and 2025. Denis Shapovalov made the 2021 Wimbledon semis. Together the pair won Canada's first Davis Cup in 2022.
The women's heritage runs deeper still. Bianca Andreescu won the 2019 US Open, the first Grand Slam singles title by any Canadian. Eugenie Bouchard reached the 2014 Wimbledon final and made the semis at the other two majors that year, and Leylah Fernandez ran to the 2021 US Open final. Carling Bassett Seguso made the 1984 US Open semis a generation earlier.
Titles and records run from 1968, the start of the Open era.
