Bolivian tennis, a short history
Mario Martinez set the Bolivian standard in the early 1980s, climbing to world No. 32 in 1980, still the highest any Bolivian has reached, and winning 3 tour titles on European clay. Hugo Dellien has come closest since, rising to No. 64 in 2022 and reaching the French Open second round that year after beating Dominic Thiem. In May 2026 Dellien and Juan Carlos Prado Angelo both qualified at Roland Garros, the first time two Bolivian men have shared a major main draw; Prado Angelo had already reached the 2023 French Open boys' final, a Bolivian first.
The women's record is thin. Noelia Zeballos is Bolivia's most prominent woman, reaching world No. 440 in 2023; no Bolivian woman has yet reached a tour-level final or a Grand Slam main draw.
Titles and records run from 1968, the start of the Open era.
